A generous and surprising addition designed by John Irving, was added to this classic bungalow, revealing a dynamically different pavilion for living. The existing bungalow was completely renovated, providing three bedrooms and a bathroom to the existing layout, including the addition of a new master bedroom suite while at the same time remaining completely unchanged from the street front. An extension that included a modern kitchen, dining and lounge room was added to the rear of the house with black joinery, cedar ceilings, dark timber floors that give it a bunker like feel where the busy client can close off the world.

We crafted a floor to ceiling cedar sliding cavity door to cleverly close off the new space from the old, leading from sleeping to kitchen, lounge and living, opening to the garden. The spaces are thoughtfully different, with colour scheme and interior details created by Katie Lockhart Studio.
